What has happened to these girls from Haiti who came back home to nothing after trying to win their soccer tournament?
Cathy, great question. The girls came back to their home towns with limited options for the future. When I saw Madeleine in March, she was living in a temporary shelter with 7 other people. She wants to go to school and learn English but doesn’t have the means to do so right now.
When I return to Haiti in July, I hope to work with Madeleine through the GOALS program. I’m particularly interested in enrolling her in an English school. If you’d like to learn more, or if you’re interested in being involved, feel free to send me an email, kona_shen[at]brown.edu.
I would like more information on Madeleine Delice. What are her specific needs – how can I help? Would she have any interest in being adopted? Does she have any family left? Would like to help her at any capacity.
FYI, here is an updated link to the video: http://myayiti.com/2010/05/videoe60-haiti-soccer-espn-com/
how do we get info on adoption?
What will it take to get the entire team back to America, in school and training for soccer cometition again?
Hi Donnie, it would require getting visas for everyone, which is really difficult. Do you have something in mind?
